YORKSHIRE’S ALTERNATIVE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

HOW I BECAME A PROFESSIONAL PORTRAIT & WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

My passion has always been in photography ever since my Grandma put a LOMO 135 VS in my hands at aged 7; I suppose you could say a career as photographer was bred into me.

As I grew older, my fascination with photography continued and I learnt that photographing people was not only my strength, but also the area in which I was most passionate – wedding photography in particular.

At just aged 16 I shot my first wedding!

Shortly after I chose to refine my technique as a photographer at the University of Cumbria and also showcased my work Free Range in London.

Now in my mid 20s (a woman never reveals her age), I see every shoot an opportunity to share my love for life behind the lens with you.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM ME? A HARROGATE PHOTOGRAPHER

Be it your wedding, work’s social occasion or little one’s birthday, I’ll go above and beyond to ensure that your memories are captured in high definition.

Prior to a shoot, you’ll have chance to talk me through your ideas in detail and get to know me on a personal level – to many of my past clients, I’m an old friend.

You needn’t worry about directing me. On location, I scope out each venue before shooting to earmark ideal locations and assess lighting conditions. That way I can be sure to achieve clear and distinctive photographs with the best backgrounds and composition.

Life in the studio is equally relaxed. After all, when we’re relaxed, we’re more confident, authentic and pull some of the best poses – a sure way to create long-lasting memories that you’ll treasure for years to come.

5 THINGS YOU PROBABLY DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ME

CONFESSIONS OF A PORTRAIT & WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER FROM HARROGATE

Firstly...

I’VE GOT AN EAR FOR MUSIC

My taste in music’s really very varied! I’m always open to new sounds, although The Script are by far my favourite band. Got a ever so slight crush on Danny… just don’t tell my boyfriend. Saying that though, I do also have a soft spot for 60s, 70s and 80s music: The Carpenters, Artetha Franklin, Billy Ocean and so on. Told you it was mixed.

Then...

THERE’S MY EMBARASSING STORIES

You could say I’m a comedian. Well, at least I fancy myself as one so there’s no end to the amount of comical tales I’ve got to tell you. You never know, we may even create one ourselves on your shoot – it wouldn’t surprise me. So if you make me your photographer be sure to prime your funny bone.

I'm arty...

PHOTOGRAPHY IS JUST ONE OF MY TALENTS

I’m also keen at drawing. Since University I’ve been doing scruffy biro sketches of dogs, cats, you name it. I guess studying Art at both GSCE & A level may have something to do with it.

Spoiler...

I’M A PHOTOGRAPHER WHO’S ALSO DOMESTICATED (SHOCK FACE)

Whether it’s Chocolate Orange cupcakes or a strawberry flavoured birthday cake, I’ve baked them all. So if you’ve got any old school family recipes that you think I might like, do bring them along.  Anything Italian or to do with seafood is a good shout. For me, seafood pizza is where it’s at.  Deeeelish!

Oh, and also...

NIGHTCLUBS REALLY AREN’T MY SCENE

When it comes to getting social, I’d much rather meet for a natter in a pub than go deaf on the dancefloor. Saying that though, I do have some pretty funky dance moves, which may surface if you confront me with some bombastic tunes. You’ve been warned!

SO NOW YOU KNOW A BIT MORE ABOUT ME, YOU’RE PROBABLY THINKING…

AM I THE YORKSHIRE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER FOR YOU?

Finding a portrait or wedding photographer in Yorkshire is easy. But finding that photographer who understands your requirements, overdelivers and remains a good friend after your occasion, is a tad trickier. Heck, there’s a lot of us out there, so how do you choose?

Well, to make your process of deduction a little easier, I’ve complied 4 reasons why my past clients and couples have chosen to make me their head photographer…

I’m ‘the’ photographer for you if:

  • You want your occasion to be documented, not staged. No need to worry about perfecting your fake smile – I’ll catch your real one.

  • You’re after a photographer who doesn’t feel like an ‘add on’ to your occasion. Choose me as your wedding photographer and I’ll be on the dance-floor with you capturing the action, not sat on side-lines.

  • You’ve got a completely bonkers idea that you’d like to try out. I’m always happy to experiment (within reason, of course).

  • You’re after a photographer who’s got a sense of humour. Although I take my work very seriously, I’m always up for a laugh.

Agree with the statements above? Then I could be the photographer for you! Drop me a line so we can talk further.
